Student Leadership

Student Leaders Inspire at Mark West Charter School

This week, Quest Forward High School’s Student Leadership team visited Mark West K-8 Charter School, putting their leadership and public speaking skills to the test. Our students introduced themselves and shared their favorite things about Quest, giving the younger students a glimpse into the unique experiences offered at our school. They also led a hands-on science experiment, guiding the students through the creation of Elephant Toothpaste, a fun and educational lab project. It was a fantastic opportunity for both schools to connect and learn from each other!

Student Leadership Planned Events!

October 18th at 7-10pm: Homecoming Dance

October 30th at 5:30pm: FALL FESTIVAL (Featuring a Trunk or Treat & Haunted House)

Join us to support our student leadership class as they host a fall festival! The event will feature a Trunk or Treat, a Haunted House, and even bounce houses! Friends and family are all welcome! The more people the students bring, the more advisory points their team will earn!  Parents are also encouraged to bring their vehicles and park it in the Trunk or Treat lot!  The more the merrier!

RSVP with this link so your student can get advisory points!

**Do you have Halloween decor that you can share with the Student Leadership class to set up their haunted house?  Please inform Shianne at sbuxton@qfhs.org and bring the materials in the week before.  Students will get extra advisory points for the Halloween props they are able to supply.  (Example: white sheets, strobe lights, black light, smoke machine, or even large bags of candy!)

Alumni Returning to Receive A Letter from the White House

This week we received a special letter in the mail addressed to Sophia, a graduate from last year, from the WHITE HOUSE! As part of an assignment last year, Sophia and her classmates were tasked with researching and writing to a politician on a topic they felt passionate about—whether it was an issue of concern, frustration, or excitement. Each student was required to address their chosen politician, asking about their plans and actions regarding the selected topic. Sophia chose to write to the White House, and after crafting, signing, and mailing her letter, she now receives a special response from the recipient. This milestone marks the culmination of their advocacy and civic engagement project.

Actively & Engaging Lessons – Science 3

Science 3 students and Teacher David are putting Newton’s Second Law to the test. Students created their very own fidget spinners and hovercrafts to visualize the effects of friction. Students are continuing to further their knowledge on the laws of motion by interacting with different materials in order to make objects that stay in motion unless an opposing force is acted on it.
